Hey there, Soulsheads! Bassist Jon Andrew here to help you keep that New Year’s resolution to experience more rock in ‘06.
The biggest news in the world of SR is that our radio campaign for "Through the Feeling" is now in full swing. In its first week of release to radio, the record has already been added to over 30 stations across the US and Canada. We’ll be sure to keep you posted as to which stations are spinning the disc as the campaign continues.
SR’s first performance of 2006 took place this past weekend at Mexicali Blues in Teaneck. We were invited to play this excellent venue by our good friends Echofission, the occasion being the release of their new CD "Amplify the Sun". We were honored to share the bill with the great Echofission, as well as New Jersey native Lo Faber, formerly of legendary jam band God Street Wine. A splendid time was had by all, and SR closed the night out with a performance of CSNY’s “Ohio,” accompanied by Echofission members Geb Z on vocals and Ken Sidotti on keys. A special thanks to Echofission and Lo Faber for sharing a great night of rock, and to the large rowdy crowd on hand as well.
Looking forward, SR has a very busy performance schedule lined up for early 2006. Saturday January 21st will find the band back at Krogh’s in Sparta, one of our favorite rooms to play. As usual at this venue, we will be offering up three full sets of rock, so come early and stay late for a healthy dose of SR, including some of our favorite cover tunes. The rock will kick off around 10:00.
The following Friday, January 27th, SR will be returning to the Loop Lounge in Passaic, another of our favorite venues to perform. We’ll be joined by two of Jersey’s finest bands, Hey Tiger and Hero Pattern. The show begins at 10:30, and promises to be another memorable night at the Loop.
Skipping ahead, Souls’ Release has been awarded a great opportunity this spring. On Saturday March 18th, SR will be participating in the New York bracket of the Emergenza Music Competition at Arlene Grocery in Manhattan. Emergenza is an international competition with prizes including a slot at a major music festival in Germany. And all we need to advance to the next round of competition is YOUR support!
