2005-01-03 - 5:11 p.m. Happy New Year Everyone! This is Joshua checking in to give you the latest and greatest from the world of Souls’ Release. I want to start by saying “thank you” to EVERYONE who came to Krogh’s in Sparta, New Jersey on New Year’s Eve to help us bring in the New Year! Wow…what a party! We played three rocking sets. Nearly everyone in attendance hung around for the entire evening and gave us all of your energy for the entire night. That show may have been the most fun we’ve had together so far, and that’s saying a lot! On a more personal level, it was great to be able to share NYE with my band mates (who are like brothers to me) and so many of our loved ones and supporters who have been backing us up since we got our start. It was truly special. Special thanks to the Jared Migden from WRSU and Lazlo of Blowupradio.com for hosting the evening and for the staff at Krogh’s for taking very special care of us. I also want to thank all of the new friends we made that night. Thank YOU for getting up and dancing, for buying so many CDs & T-Shirts and for being an amazing audience! Thanks for the shots too! By the time this entry is posted we should have some pictures from our New Year’s Eve show displayed in our “Friends of SR” gallery! To view them click on the “Visual” link and then go to “Friends of SR”! Well, 2004 is now history. It was an extremely important year for us. We completed our lineup and really became a band. We played many shows in different regions of the country and made a lot of new friends/fans in the process. We released our first EP “Go” to rave reviews and by now many of you have been cool enough to pick up a copy of it. In a lot of ways, 2004 was truly wonderful for SR. We thank YOU for helping us make this past year the incredible year it was. No doubt, 2005 will be an even bigger year for Souls’ Release. SESSIONS FOP OUR FIRST FULL LENGTH ALBUM BEGIN ON JANUARY 21 at Mix-0-Lydian Studios, in Lafayette, NJ! This studio is located on a beautiful secluded farm in Northern Jersey and has hosted such legends as Mick Jagger, Peter Gabriel , Blues Traveler and others. Veteran producer, Bob Perry, will oversee this project!!!! We plan to keep you posted on the progress of these sessions as well as the release date for this album. Before we disappear for a while, we’re going to play one last gig at The Loop lounge on January 14. This is going to be an awesome night which will also feature our “Up Rock” companions, Butterspy as well as a recently reunited Echofission!!! To put it simply…this show is going to kick @$$!! Check our “SHOWS” page for more details. On the behalf of my band mates Nick & Jon, I would like to wish Souls’ Release drummer, Sean Calcamuggio, a very happy birthday! Sean - your arrival has given SR an unbelievably potent (and loud) shot in the arm. It is a pleasure to have shared so many stages and good times with you. We look forward to all that we will accomplish together and all of the fun we will have just being friends. Cheers! The beginning of a new year is always a time for reflection. 2004 was a year that many of us will never forget. It seemed as if natural disasters were occurring all over the world. We lost several major music icons. Many of our brothers and sisters were shipped out to fight overseas. There was yet another controversial election. The Red Sox finally won a world series and Rick James became a household name…again! From tragedy to comedy to the unbelievable, it seemed as if 2004 had a little bit of everything. I hope that these first few days of 2005 are full of optimism, excitement and hope. May you be happy, healthy and successful in 2005 and beyond. As always, we thank you for your support and ask you to keep it coming. Continue to love yourselves and each other. Sincerely Joshua Van Ness
