2004-06-23 - 3:33 p.m. Hello Beautiful People! Thanks again for checking up on us. We hope you’re all enjoying the same kind of beautiful summer weather that we’re experiencing here in the Northeast. We apologize for not updating the “THOUGHTS” page in quite a while. It’s not that we haven’t had any news to bring you. In fact, the truth is that we’ve been extremely busy. So here’s the inside scoop on what’s been going on. Since the last update our performance schedule has been full of shows all over NJ and in parts of PA. There have been so many cool moments over the past month or so, that it would be impossible to list them all. Many of you have come out on multiple occasions during the last 4-6 weeks to show your love. We cannot thank YOU enough! The other night while we were on stage at the Court Tavern in New Brunswick, NJ, SR lead vocalist, Joshua Van Ness asked the audience how many people were seeing Souls’ Release for the first time. The crowd responded with a hearty round of applause. Then SR lead-guitarist, Nick Ferriero asked how many people had previously seen SR and the crowd absolutely roared! That pretty much says it all. Again we thank you for your support! We do have some bittersweet news to report. Long time friend and SR drummer Ryan Allen has decided to leave the band for personal reasons. We assure you that the separation took place on the friendliest of terms. We’ve put in a lot of miles together and he will always remain a close member of the SR family. WE wish Ryan the best of luck with all future endeavors. NEW MEMBER!!!!!!! We’re very happy to announce that Sean Calcamuggio is the newest addition to the SR family! Sean’s ambitious and yet easy going personality made him a natural fit within the chemistry of the band. Furthermore, we’re confident that his EXPLOSIVE drumming will elevate SR’s music to an extraordinary level. In the coming weeks we will be posting pictures of the new lineup, as well as Sean’s contact information. Stay tuned! The best news of all is that you will not have to wait very long to experience the new look and sound of Souls’ Release. Sean Calcamuggio will make his debut with the band on Saturday, July 10 when we perform at the 8th annual Black Potatoe Music Festival! The Black Potatoe Music Festival is a weekend long festival held outdoors in beautiful Clinton, NJ. There are tickets available for a weekend pass or you can just come and hang out for a day (we’re performing on Saturday, July 10 at 1:00 PM sharp).
Out of 500 plus bands that applied, only 32 were selected to join the festival. So needless to say, we’re honored to be sharing the bill with so many talented artists and even a few industry heavy hitters. We look forward to sharing this special occasion with many of you. Hit our SHOWS page for a link to the BPMF. Also, Nick & Joshua will be performing a rare acoustic set at CB’s Gallery (located next door to the world famous CBGB’s) in New York City on Saturday June 26. The show is a special event hosted by the people at “Rock the Vote” and will be dedicated to encouraging people to register to vote. This show features an awesome line up and is being held for a very worthy cause. Please go to our shows page for information on both of these upcoming shows and more! Well that is about all for now. Please continue to check back with us as the summer continues. We’re going to have a lot of exciting news to report to you. As always we look forward to hearing from you and even more so seeing you at a show. Peace & be wild Jon, Sean, Nick & Joshua
